Russian citizens have been brought in to participate in the sham referendum in occupied Mariupol, Donetsk Oblast, as there were clearly not enough votes for it to be deemed valid.
Source: Petro Andriushchenko, the adviser to the Mayor of Mariupol, on Telegram
Quote: "Civilian occupiers working for Russian contractors are being brought in to increase the size of the ‘vote’ in the ‘referendum’. That is, Russian citizens are openly deciding the fate of the ‘expression of will’ of Ukrainian Mariupol."
Details: Andriushchenko added that on the last day of the sham referendum, the invaders were organising "gala performances at polling stations". In particular, they planned to involve the Mariupol Orchestra and actors from the local drama theatre [which was deliberately bombed in March – ed.].
Background: With one day to go until the sham referendum in Mariupol is over, the occupiers are already talking about a 77% turnout and trying to force people to "vote".
