Further details are still unknown, but Iryna Horavska, General Director of the Volyn Oblast Territorial Medical Association for the Protection of Motherhood and Childhood, said that Mariana and her baby were doing well.

The full-scale war was already going on when Mariana found out she was pregnant. At that time, she was in Mariupol.

Mariana's sister Oksana told Ukrainska Pravda.Zhyttia that the doctor did not want to find out the sex of her unborn baby beforehand, preferring to have a surprise.

Military medic Mariana Mamonova was captured on 4 April. She was released on 21 September, with 214 other prisoners, in exchange for Viktor Medvedchuk and 55 Russian soldiers.
