 Ukrainian Armed Forces repel Russian attacks and hit 40 Russian targets – General Staff report

The Armed Forces of Ukraine repelled Russian attacks near nine settlements and struck 40 Russian targets over the course of 20 September.

Details: There were no changes on the Volyn and Polissia fronts.

On other fronts, the Russians continued to fire on military and civilian targets using tank guns, mortars and various types of artillery:

  • On the Sivershchyna front: areas in and around Zaliznyi Mist, Mykhailove and Huta-Studenetska (Chernihiv Oblast) and Sosnivka, Holyshivske, Yunakivka and Turia (Sumy Oblast);
  • On the Slobozhanshchyna front: near Veterynarne, Hoptivka, Hlyboke, Derhachi, Hrushivka, Kupiansk and Kamianka;
  • On the Kramatorsk front: Donetske, Studenok, Yarova, Tetianivka, Bohorodychne, Pryshyb, Shchurove, Staryi Karavan, Raihorodok, Mykolaivka, Rozdolivka, Oleksandrivka and Hryhorivka;
  • On the Bakhmut front: Siversk, Verkhnokamianske, Vyimka, Vesele, Bilohorivka, Yakovlivka, Soledar, Bakhmutske, Bakhmut, Odradivka, Mykolaivka Druha, Zaitseve, Sukha Balka, Yurivka and New-York;
  • On the Avdiivka front: Berdychi, Avdiivka, Vodiane, Krasnohorivka, Marinka, Paraskoviivka, Novomykhailivka and Pervomaiske;
  • On the Zaporizhzhia front: Novopil, Vremivka, Velyka Novosilka, Novoukrainka, Prechystivka, Vuhledar, Pavlivka, Volodymyrivka, Zaliznychne, Huliaipole and Chervone;
  • On the Pivdennyi Buh front, Russian forces fired on more than 25 towns and villages along the entire line of contact, including Vysokopillia, Myroliubivka, Karierne, Novohryhorivka, Bilohirka, Blahodativka, Andriivka, Zoria, Shevchenkove, Ternovi Pody, Pravdyne and Myrne.

Ukrainian defence forces [a collective name designating all forces fighting to defend Ukraine - ed.] continue to inflict losses on Russian military personnel and equipment.

Ukrainian troops struck the following areas of concentration of Russian military personnel and equipment on 19 September: over 20 military personnel gathered in the Polohy district; an ammunition storage point, five items of military equipment and over 20 military personnel in the Melitopol district; 10 pieces of military equipment and over 10 military personnel were focused near the village of Kamianka.

The General Staff has also confirmed that the commandant’s office in the city of Svatove, Luhansk Oblast, which housed a Russian headquarters and an ammunition storage point, has been destroyed.

Over the course of 20 September, Ukrainian forces have successfully repelled Russian attacks near Vesele, Kurdiumivka, Mykolaivka Druha, Bakhmutske, Zaitseve, Maiorsk, Pervomaiske, Marinka and Novomykhailivka.

Ukrainian aircraft carried out over 20 airstrikes on Russian positions on 20 September, striking 19 areas where Russian military personnel and equipment were concentrated, and hitting two anti-aircraft defence systems.

In addition, units of Ukrainian anti-aircraft defence forces shot down one Russian Su-25 jet and four UAVs.

Ukraine’s rocket and artillery units struck over 40 Russian targets over the course of the day, including 20 areas where Russian military personnel, weapons and equipment were concentrated, 13 artillery positions, and seven ammunition storage points. Russia’s total losses have yet to be ascertained.
