Residents of the settlement of Pechenihy are afraid of the destruction of the dam by Russia; they are preparing to the case of flooding

Residents of the settlement of Pechenihy and neighbouring villages in Kharkiv Oblast were warned about the possible flooding of their houses due to the Russian invaders striking the Pechenihy Dam.

Quote: "During the last few days, the Russian army has carried out and continues to carry out missile strikes on the Pechenihy Reservoir Dam.

There is a probable threat of destruction by the enemy of the Pechenihy Hydroelectric Plant Dam. An emergency situation is possible as a result of catastrophic flooding of territories downstream."

Details: Residents of the hromada were urged to follow the announcement of the city council 24 hours a day and, in case of alarm, to take essential items and leave the unsafe area.

Husarov advises in the event of an emergency:

  • Residents of Berehova Street, Kharkivska Street, Rybna Street, Sosnova Street and Rybna Lane in the settlement of  Pechenihy – move to Zinchenko Street (the area of ​​the former eight-year school);
  • To residents of Hohol Street in the village of Kytsivka – move to the mountain (cemetery area)
  • Residents of Diomina Street in the village of Piatnytske should move to the upper part of the village (closer to the forest).

Background: On 20 September, General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine reported that the Russian troops tried to destroy the dam of the Pechenihy Reservoir in Kharkiv Oblast - but without success.

On 14-16 September, Russian troops launched three missile strikes on the Karachunivka Reservoir Dam near Kryvyi Rih: the result of those strikes caused serious destruction to hydrotechnical structures and caused the Inhulets River to overflow.
