Quote from Zelenskyy: "Russia is trying to prevent us from using Ukraine’s capabilities to stabilise the situation in Europe. Our [ability to] export electricity is something that Russia is very afraid of right now. Because we can foil Russian plans to squeeze every penny out of ordinary European citizens this winter as energy prices are expected to skyrocket."
Details: On the other hand, President Zelenskyy said that most of the attacks carried out by the Russian occupying forces attest to their desperation. He explained that [Russian attacks on critical civilian infrastructure targets] are the Russian forces’ reaction to their defeat in Kharkiv Oblast. "They can’t defeat our heroes on the battlefield, and that’s why Russia is directing its vile strikes at civilian infrastructure," the president stressed.
He added that he was convinced that it is necessary to designate Russia a terrorist state and to strengthen sanctions against it. In addition, he emphasised that the need for other countries to send still more aid to Ukraine and to speed up the supply of air defence systems in particular.
Previously: Hundreds of thousands of residents of Ukraine were left without power as a result of one of the most massive Russian attacks on Ukraine’s energy infrastructure, carried out on 11 September.
