Quote: "Aspiring blogger Dmitry Medvedev should be thinking not of Ukraine, but of a state like North Korea and Saddam’s bunker, where he will be hiding, and finally stop writing ‘russia’ with a capital letter and get used to the fact that ‘they haven’t even retreated yet’."
Background: On 10 September, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy noted that negotiations with the Russian Federation about the end of the war are currently impossible, since the Russian side cannot formulate any adequate positions.
Medvedev said that Russia is still demanding "the total surrender of Ukraine on its own terms", commenting on Zelenskyy’s statement about the impossibility of negotiating with the Russian Federation until the war is over.
Reminder:
- The Armed Forces of Ukraine are conducting a successful counteroffensive on the Russian-occupied territories of Ukraine.
- Defence Minister Oleksii Reznikov said that the counteroffensive in the Kharkiv oblast went "much better than expected".
- In particular, Zelenskyy said that in Kharkiv Oblast, the Defenders of Ukraine had regained control of more than 30 settlements.
- Following the liberation of settlements in Kharkiv Oblast by the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said that Moscow is not refusing to negotiate with Ukraine.
