Quote: "The city has been relentlessly pummelled by mortars since five in the morning. Machine gun salvos can be heard."
Details: Orlov added that several civilian targets have been hit and civilians have been injured. The number of casualties has yet to be confirmed.
Background: The IAEA mission set out from Kyiv to the ZNPP on 31 August in order to inspect the nuclear power plant. Russian occupying forces declared that the IAEA mission will have one day to complete the inspection.
So-called authorities from the occupied area of Zaporizhzhia Oblast announced that they would not grant any special passes for the participants of the IAEA mission to expedite their travel to the ZNPP. However, occupation authorities added that they expect the mission to arrive in Enerhodar on the morning of 1 September.
The Chief Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defence of Ukraine says that Russian occupiers are preparing to use "extras" to stage support for their actions at the ZNPP for the IAEA mission.
