The Polarnet, which was one of the first ships to take part in the implementation of the Initiative on the Safe Transportation of Grain and Food Products from Ukrainian Ports, has arrived at its final destination in Turkey.

This was reported by Ukraine’s Ministry of Infrastructure on Facebook.

"This first successful experience in implementing the grain initiative means we can look with optimism at the prospects for transportation.

I am grateful to our partners from the UN and Turkey for ensuring the safety of the ship's movement effectively and cooperating as much as they could at every stage of the implementation of the agreements. I am also grateful to the crew of the Polarnet for their willingness to be among the first to use the ‘grain corridor’, thus opening the way for all other vessels," said Infrastructure Minister Alexander Kubrakov.

The Navistar and the Rojen, which left the ports in the same convoy as the Polarnet, are expected to arrive at their destination ports in about a week’s time.

"The arrival of the first ship loaded with Ukrainian grain at a Turkish port is a signal of hope for every family in the Middle East, Africa and Asia: Ukraine will not abandon you. We always have been, are, and will be a reliable supplier of agricultural produce.  Unlike Russia, we do not play ‘Hunger Games’.

Full responsibility for the ongoing functioning of the ‘grain corridor’ rests with Russia. If it complies with its obligations, Ukrainian food exports will continue to guarantee stability for our Middle Eastern, African and Asian friends," said Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba.

Note:

The first vessel carrying Ukrainian food to depart from the Pivdennyi Port (formerly known as Yuzhny) since 24 February left on the morning of 8 August as part of the "grain initiative". The bulk carrier Sacura is heading to Italy.
