Aftermath of attacks in Donetsk region: apartment blocks and houses damaged, seven people rescued from rubble

On the night of 5 August, the Russians fired on Kostiantynivka in Donetsk Oblast. The entrance to an apartment block was destroyed, and rescue workers saved seven people who were trapped under the rubble or in blocked-off apartments.

Quote from Kyrylenko: "After midnight, the Russians fired on Kostiantynivka twice, destroying the entrance to a high-rise building. Rescue workers pulled 7 people out from under the rubble and blocked-off apartments. In another attack, the Russians damaged a school – no one was injured."

Details: According to the State Emergency Service, the attack on Kostiantynivka happened at around 01:00. The bombardment destroyed the inter-floor ceilings from the third to sixth floors in the third entrance of a five-entrance, five-storey residential building.

Rescue workers pulled a man and a woman out from under the rubble. A further five people who were trapped in their apartments were rescued using a ladder truck.

Five private houses in Krasnohorivka were also damaged by shelling, and shells hit near a shop in Pervomaisk. No information about casualties has been received so far.

In Kurakhove, Russian rockets hit a school and residential buildings. Another school was damaged in the village of Kurakhivka.

 

5 residential buildings were damaged in Druzhkivka. 

 

Kyrylenko stressed that the Russians continue to hit civilians and destroy social infrastructure, and called on residents of the oblast to leave for safer oblasts in Ukraine.
