Quote: "On the evening of 5 August, Russian terrorists fired on the Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant again using MLRS [multiple-launch rocket system(s) - ed.]. Three rockets struck the area near one of the power units, which contains a nuclear reactor.
The Ruscists have severely damaged a nitrogen and oxygen generator and an auxiliary building. There is a threat of a hydrogen leak as well as of radioactive substance leaks. There is a grave threat of fire. There are no casualties."
Details: Energoatom reports that representatives of Rosatom [a Russian state nuclear energy corporation that has been overseeing the ZNPP since it was captured by the Russian forces - ed.] hastily left the power plant moments before the attack – it is likely that they knew about the impending attack. Ukrainian staff remain at the ZNPP and are making every effort to safeguard nuclear and radiation security and to repair the damage caused by the attack.
Earlier: Earlier on Friday, 5 August, Energoatom reported that Russian forces once again fired on the territory of the Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant (ZNPP). Three strikes were recorded near the industrial site and a high-voltage power line was hit.
