The Ukranian office of human rights organisation Amnesty International was not involved in authoring or distributing the Amnesty International report which claims that the Ukrainian Armed Forces have put civilians in harm’s way by establishing bases and operating weapons systems in populated residential areas.
Source: Kateryna Mitieva, spokeswoman for Amnesty International Ukraine; hromadske
Quote from Mitieva: "The Ukrainian office has not participated in either the preparation or the dissemination of this information.
The rules [of Amnesty International] stipulate that only the Department of Crisis Management is responsible for documenting violations and crimes during armed conflicts and wars."
Details: Amnesty International Ukraine has said that they have instead documented dozens of war crimes committed in Ukraine and, moreover, have been able to prove that these crimes have been committed by Russian forces.
The spokeswoman has stressed that not a single war crime committed by the Ukrainian Armed Forces has been recorded.
