UKRAINSKA PRAVDA – TUESDAY, 30 AUGUST 2022, 17:16
On 29 August, Russian forces shot at an evacuation convoy in the "grey zone" in Zaporizhzhia Oblast, in order to intimidate civilians trying to flee the occupied area of the Oblast for the territory under Ukraine’s control.
Source: Ivan Fedorov, Mayor of Melitopol, on air during the 24/7 national joint newscast
Quote from Fedorov: "Yesterday [29 August], the Russians deliberately let a large number of cars through [their checkpoint at] Vasylivka. In the "grey zone", they opened fire on the convoy of our civilians. There were blasts some 50-100 metres away from the cars, and people were forced to get out of the cars and hide under them."
Details: Fedorov said that fortunately, there were no casualties. He added that the occupiers were trying to intimidate civilians to prevent them from leaving [the Russian-occupied territories - ed.] as Melitopol residents escaped to Vasylivka and then moved to territories controlled by Ukraine.
