Zelenskyy on Russia’s decision regarding Azov Regiment: Russia is "number one among terrorists"

President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has said that Russia’s decision to declare the Azov Regiment a terrorist organisation is absurd because Russia itself is a terrorist state.

Quote from Zelenskyy: "Now there is a sense that Russia has begun to realise the inevitability of being recognised as a terrorist state.
After everything that the Russian army and the supposedly private Russian military companies have done, no other terrorist organisation in the world can claim primacy in terror. Russia is definitely number one among terrorists. And this certainly merits legal consequences, in particular, in the decisions of the United States and other world actors.
And precisely because of this, a new propaganda activity has started in Moscow. They have suddenly decided to declare the Azov Regiment a terrorist organisation, although when a terrorist state does this, it is obviously absurd."
Previously:
- The Supreme Court of Russia declared the Ukrainian volunteer Azov Regiment a "terrorist organisation" and banned its activities on the territory of the Russian Federation.
- Following Russia’s declaration that the Azov Regiment is a terrorist organisation, the regiment called on the world to recognise Russia as a terrorist state.
- The National Guard of Ukraine (which the Azov Regiment is part of) believes that one of Russia’s goals in its war against Ukraine is to destroy the Azov Regiment, which is why Russia has now decided to declare the regiment a terrorist organisation.
- The Russian Embassy in the UK tweeted that the killing of soldiers of the Azov Regiment was justified and that the Azov fighters "deserve a humiliating death".
