Quote: "As the Russian occupiers themselves say, they want to erect a monument to Alexander Nevsky on a horse at the place of the memorial. It is not known why, because this person has nothing to do with Mariupol."

Details: The memorial which the occupiers are destroying was an important element of the renovated Freedom Square in the city. It was made of granite in the shape of the Ukrainian coat of arms, on which water flowed as a symbol of shedding tears.
