Russian occupiers have stolen the deposit boxes from the First Ukrainian International Bank (PUMB) bank branch in temporarily occupied Mariupol.
This was reported by Petro Andriushchenko, the advisor to Mariupol’s mayor, on his Telegram.
"There were deposit boxes on the premises of the PUMB bank in Mariupol. It is unknown what and how much of it Mariupol residents kept there. But they definitely kept the most valuable [things there - ed.] and these deposit boxes were closed at the beginning of the second phase of the war. Currently, they have been completely cleaned out to zero," he writes.
According to Andriushchenko, the voluntary decision of banker A.Vysotskyi to stay and cooperate with the Russians is also connected with this theft [according to local media, Andrii Vysotskyi, who managed the PUMB Processing Center in Mariupol, has sided with the occupiers and will build the financial system of the self-proclaimed "Donetsk People's Republic" in Mariupol - ed.].
"Our sources report that it was him who directly contributed to the looting, ensuring the peaceful opening [of the deposit boxes - ed.] before the full occupation of the city," Andriushchenko added.
