In total, 11 ships passed via these routes. Seven ships passed through the mouth of the Bystre on the Danube-Black Sea waterway, and another four passed through Romania’s Sulina Canal.
"Since March, we have managed to transport more than 4 million tons of grain through the Danube ports; as of now, this is more than by all other modes of transport. The dynamics of the increase is significant. In March, our ports processed only 16.5 thousand tons of agricultural products for export; in July, the figure was almost 1.4 million tons," said Oleksandr Kubrakov, the Minister of Infrastructure.
Kubrakov added that as long as systematic investments and implementation of the program for the modernization of ports on the Danube take effect, it will be possible to increase their capacity to 25 million tons of cargo per year.
In early July, the Bystre’s mouth on the Danube-Black Sea waterway became available for the passage of ships transporting agricultural products. This was made possible by the liberation of Zmiinyi (Snake) Island by the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
Reminder:
More than 130 vessels loaded with Ukrainian grain are waiting for passage at the entrance to the Romanian Sulina Canal.
After Ukraine’s liberation of the Zmiinyi (Snake) Island in Odesa Oblast from Russian occupying forces, shipping through the Danube-Black Sea waterway was restored.
