President Volodymyr Zelenskyy is appalled by Russia’s attempts to shift the blame for the Russian shelling of the Zaporizhzhia nuclear power plant (ZNPP) to Ukraine before the eyes of the international community.

Background: The Russian Federation has requested that an urgent UN Security Council meeting be convened [on Tuesday, 23 August - ed.] to discuss "the situation around the Zaporizhzhia NPP".
Ukraine's Permanent Representative to the UN believes that this is yet another desperate attempt by the Russian delegation to use the UN Security Council's tools, first, to divert attention from the meeting scheduled for 24 August [for a briefing on the UN Secretary General’s visit to Ukraine - ed.], and second, to blame Ukraine for the attacks on ZNPP that Russia itself is regularly carrying out.
More Background: Earlier, the Institute for the Study of War (ISW) reported that the Russian Ministry of Defence "appears to be setting information conditions to blame Ukrainian forces for future false flag operations at the Zaporizhzhia NPP."
