Ukrainian farmers in Luhansk Oblast forced to sell milk at extremely low prices

The Russian occupation regime in Luhansk Oblast pays Ukrainian farmers 7 roubles [approximately US$0.12 - ed.] per litre of milk.

Details: Haidai notes that the local farmers are saying it is better to pour the milk down the drain than sell it. However, in the absence of other sources of income, they are forced to sell their products to the Russian occupiers.

"People just can’t break even if they are paid these ridiculous sums of money. It’s true that it would be cheaper to stop [producing milk], but in the realm of farming it’s impossible to do so instantly," Haidai adds.

The Department of Agricultural and Industry Development of the Luhansk Oblast State Administration [controlled by Ukraine - ed.] reported that last year, the farmers got paid 20 hryvnias for a litre of milk [approximately US$0.54 - ed.], seven or eight times more than now.

Background: Russian occupiers are dismantling the Illich iron and steel works in the temporarily Russian-occupied city of Mariupol in order to get some scrap metal.

Mykhailo Podoliak, Advisor to the Head of the Office of the President of Ukraine, has said that Russian forces in the occupied city of Kherson have instructed railway workers across all occupied territories of Ukraine to transfer all train cars, damaged and intact, to Nova Kakhovka and Kherson. The Russians then dismantle these train cars and send them on to Crimea.
