Member of village council killed in a mine explosion in Sumy Oblast

Ivan Deineka, member of a village council and owner of an agricultural business, was killed in a mine explosion in Sumy Oblast.

Quote: "A tragedy occurred in Krasnopillia hromada (amalgamated territorial community) around 16:00 today.

To avoid a collision with an oncoming car, a ZIL truck drove onto the side of the road, ignoring the ‘Beware of mines’ warning signs.

The truck blew up and the driver died on the spot."

Details: The driver was Ivan Hryhorovych Deineka, a resident of Krasnopillia and a farmer. He owned an agricultural business and was a member of the local village council. He was also the chairman of the Sumy Oblast farmers’ and private landowners’ association.

Zhyvytskyi specified that Deineka was in the truck by himself; he was transporting the crops he had harvested earlier.
