Details: On Friday, members of parliament in Russia’s Krasnodar voted to terminate the powers of the city’s mayor early.
The decree states that the former mayor has been appointed the so-called "First Deputy Head of the military and civil administration of Kharkiv Oblast – head of the Council of Ministers of Kharkiv Oblast."
Alekseyenko said that "Krasnodar Krai shall have oversight over Kharkiv Oblast."
Why is this important: According to intelligence data, in the autumn, Russia plans to hold referendums on the incorporation of the occupied Ukrainian territories into the Russian Federation. Meanwhile, the invaders control about 30% of Kharkiv Oblast.
