EUROPEAN PRAVDA – FRIDAY, 19 AUGUST 2022, 14:52
The EU submitted information to the International UN Court within the framework of Ukraine’s case against Russia about the "genocide" accusations, which Russia used to justify the invasion of Ukraine.
The press service of the International UN court reported about this as stated by European Pravda.
On 17 August, the EU passed the UN court the information concerning the case about the accusations of genocide in accordance with the Convention on the Prevention and Punishment of the Crime of Genocide (CPPCG) (Ukraine against the Russian Federation) according to Article 34, paragraph 2 of the Court statute and Article 69, paragraph 2 of the Court rules.
"We are grateful to the EU for joining the Ukraine against Russia case in the International UN Court concerning the accusations of genocide. Justice will prevail", Ukraine’s office in the EU commented.
Background: On 16 March, the International UN Court in Hague obliged Russia to stop the military action in Ukraine started on 24 February. The military action aimed to "prevent and punish" the alleged genocide in Luhansk and Donetsk Oblasts (see more details in the article The first decision from Hague: what the UN Court order in the "genocide" case against Russia means).
The Kremlin stated it will ignore the decision.
European Pravda told the readers in detail about Ukraine’s lawsuit and how claims of the Kremlin paved the way to filing this lawsuit: To Hague for genocide: what Ukraine wrote in the lawsuit against Russia to the UN Court.
