Kharkiv shelling: death toll rises to 19

At least 19 people have been killed and 42 others injured as a result of rocket strikes on Kharkiv on 17-18 August.

Quote from Tymoshenko: "Clearance of the rubble in the Slobidskyi district continues, we can assume that there are two more people under the rubble… We also believe that most likely there are no people there (in Saltivka – ed.)."

Details: He added that the total number of dead had risen from 17 to 19 people. It is now known that there are 15 dead and 20 injured in the Saltivka district, as well as four dead and 22 injured in the Slobidskyi district. 

Background: 

  • Around 21:30 on Wednesday, a Russian rocket hit a three-storey residential building in the Saltivka district. The house was almost completely destroyed and there was a large-scale fire. 
  • The number of people killed in the missile strike on the Saltivka District of Kharkiv has increased to 12 people.
  • The number of people killed due to the shelling of the Slobidskyi District of Kharkiv by the invaders on the morning of 18 August has risen to 3 people.
