Serhii Haidai, the head of the Luhansk Oblast Military Administration, says that about 350,000 citizens remain in the oblast under Russian occupation.
Source: Haidai in an interview with the Kyiv Post
Quote from Haidai: "More than 300,000 (people) have left the area where the active phase of hostilities took place. That means there are about 350,000 people left in the territory of Luhansk Oblast."
Details: Haidai recalled that Luhansk Oblast, as part of Ukraine, used to have a population of 2,258,000. But after 2014, 30% of the Luhansk region was occupied, including the cities of Alchevsk, Stakhanov and Luhansk.
The population of the Ukrainian-controlled territory was 650,000, plus 200,000 people who had the status of Internally Displaced Persons. 300,000 people left the oblast after the full-scale Russian invasion and the beginning of the active phase of hostilities, so about 350,000 citizens are currently living under occupation.
