- The occupiers in Crimea began evacuating people after explosions at an ammunition storage site near Dzhankoi; as of 10.00 on 16 August, about 2,000 people have already left.
- It was later known that the railway in the Dzhankoi district of occupied Crimea [in the north part of peninsula] has been damaged due to an explosion at an ammunition storage site in the village of Maiske; trains coming from Russia will stop in Vladyslavivka, near Feodosiia [a town in the eastern part of the peninsula].
