Russian forces attack 5 Kharkiv neighbourhoods – Kharkiv Mayor

Russian forces carried out attacks on several neighbourhoods of the city of Kharkiv at once in the early hours of 16 August, at 02:15.

Details: Early reports indicate that Russian forces fired on the Shevchenkivskyi and Kyivskyi neighbourhoods in central Kharkiv, as well as on the Saltivskyi, Industrialnyi and Kholodnohirskyi neighbourhoods.
This means that the Russians have hit five of the city’s nine neighbourhoods – the greatest radius of attack in a long time.
As of now, there is no information about casualties.
Several infrastructure facilities and other buildings or structures have been damaged as a result of the attack.
Earlier: The Mayor of Kharkiv said that the Russian aggressors were shelling the city with artillery and called on everyone to stay in shelters.
Background:
- On 15 August, Russian forces hit the Saltivka neighbourhood of Kharkiv. Five people were injured, two of them were in a critical condition, and one person was treated on the spot. A woman injured in the attack died in hospital.
- On the night of 14 August, Russian forces hit the building of an industrial facility in Kharkiv, damaged an infrastructure facility and an industrial plant in Merefa, and carried out an attack on Chuhuiv.
