Russian forces advance on Bakhmut, Ukrainian army repels assaults on several other fronts – General Staff report

The Armed Forces of Ukraine have repelled Russian assaults on the Sloviansk, Kramatorsk and Avdiivka fronts. However, Russian forces have seen some success on the Bakhmut front.

Details: Russian forces shelled areas in the vicinity of Hrushuvakha, Dolyna, Krasnopillia, Dibrivne, Kurulka, Protopopivka and Nortisvka on the Sloviansk front using tubed and rocket artillery. The Ukrainian Armed Forces repelled a Russian assault on Dolyna.

On the Kramatorsk front, Russian forces used tanks and multiple-launch rocket systems (MLRS) to fire on Verkhnokamianske, Serebrianka, Spirne, Ivano-Darivka, Rozdolivka and Pereizne.

In addition, the Russians attempted to reconnoitre Ukrainian positions near Serebrianka, but had to retreat after the Ukrainian forces opened fire on them. Another attempt to conduct reconnaissance-in-force, near Vesele, had a similar outcome for the Russian forces.

"The invaders ventured assaults near Spirne and Ivano-Darivka, but suffered losses and retreated," the General Staff reported.

On the Bakhmut front, Russian forces fired on the areas around Kostiantynivka, Bakhmut, Soledar, Shumy, Yakovlivka, Kodema and Vershyna. They carried out airstrikes near Soledar, Yakovlivka and Kodema.

Russians attempted to conduct reconnaissance-in-force near Soledar, but were forced to retreat when the Ukrainian forces opened fire on them.

They also attempted to advance near Yakovlivka, Soledar, Vershyna, Kodema and Zaitseve, and were also forced to retreat without making gains. However, Russian forces’ attempt to advance on Bakhmut was partially successful.

In addition to using various calibres of artillery to shell areas in and around Avdiivka, Nevelske, Pisky, Vodiane, Karlivka and Niu-York on the Avdiivka front, Russian forces carried out airstrikes near Krasnohorivka.

The Russian assault operations on approach to Krasnohorivka and Pisky failed and the Russian troops retreated.

On the Novopavlivka and Zaporizhzhia fronts, Russian forces fired on areas in the vicinity of Kostiantynivka, Orikhiv, Pavlivka and another 10 towns and villages using tank guns and artillery. They carried out airstrikes near Novosilky, Novoandriivka and Shcherbaky and continued to use operational and tactical UAVs to conduct aerial reconnaissance in the area.

The Russians’ attempts to mount an offensive on Pavlivka and Vremivka failed.

Russian forces continued to fire tank guns and various types of artillery on the following towns and villages on the Kharkiv front: Udy, Borshchova, Zolochiv, Bezruky, Nove, Rtyshchivka, Ruska Lozova, Cherkaski Tyshky, Petrivka, Staryi Saltiv, Mospanove, Korobochkyne, Pryshyb, Bairak and Chepil. Russian aircraft conducted airstrikes near Peremoha, Pytomnyk and Verkhnii Saltiv.

On the Pivdennyi Buh front, Russian forces used tank guns, tubed artillery and MLRS to fire on Posad-Pokrovske, Oleksandrivka, Olenivka, Myrne, Shyroke, Poliana, Pavlo-Marʼianivka, Chervona Dolyna, Kyselivka, Ternivka, Velyke Artakove, Bila Krynytsia, Ivanivka, Potomkyne and Trudoliubivka. Russian aircraft targeted the areas near Bilohirka and Velyke Artakove. In addition, Russian forces continued to conduct aerial reconnaissance using UAVs.

Two naval cruise missile carriers are on standby in the Black and Azov seas.

Up to four Russian battalion tactical groups are deployed on the Sivershchyna front and some of the Russian units on this front are being rotated.

Russian forces used tubed artillery to shell the areas in and around Senkivka in Chernihiv Oblast and Starykove, Atynske and Zhuravka in Sumy Oblast.
