Quote from Mariupol City Council: "A powerful explosion in Mariupol!
At 15:40, a loud explosion rang out in occupied Mariupol. The whole city heard it. This is being reported by local residents. Details to follow."
Details: Andriushchenko said that Ukrainians were involved.
Quote from Andriushchenko: "Mariupol. 15:40, an explosion that was heard by the whole city, every neighbourhood.
And yes. Not without us."
More details: Later, Andriushchenko clarified that the explosion occurred in the area of Slag Mountain on Kuindzhi Street in the Kalmius district, in the area where a point of reception of scrap metal was set up.
Quote from Andriushchenko: "The reason is that if you collect scrap metal without checking any of it, then surprises occur and sometimes abandoned aerial bombs detonate. We punish the greed of the occupiers with the ingenuity of the Mariupol resistance.
Once again, send our best regards to the Ministry of Emergency Situations of the Russian Federation, which leaves explosive devices unattended when clearing the mines."
Background: At about the same time, Ivan Fedorov, the mayor of Melitopol, reported explosions in the occupied city of Melitopol and according to him, partisans are at work.
