Russian missile hits hospital in Mykolaiv – mayor

On the night of 1 August, Russian forces launched a massive strike on Mykolaiv, damaging an emergency room of a city hospital as well as private homes.

Quote from Kim: "The emergency room of one of the hospitals was smashed, four buildings, medical vehicles were damaged, windows were broken. As of now, no casualties."
Quote from Sienkevych: "The building is partially destroyed. From the shock wave and debris, windows blew out in neighbouring medical departments. Fortunately, the staff and patients were not injured."
Details: According to the mayor of the city, this emergency room was opened at the end of 2019. It was one of the most modern in Ukraine.
Governor Vitaliy Kim added that as a result of the damage to private houses in Mykolaiv, three people were injured. There was also a fire at a medical dispensary; a warehouse with medical supplies and food burned down.
Background:
- On 31 July, Mykolaiv suffered the largest Russian strike in the past 5 months – many fires ensued.
- Near Mykolaiv, after a round of cluster munition shelling at night, a large forest fire broke out.
