Collaborator who led the villages of Bucha district during the occupation faces up to 12 years in prison

The police have indicted a man who was given the post of head of villages in Kyiv Oblast’s Bucha district in return for his cooperation with the Russian Federation. Now he faces 12 years in prison.

Details: According to the investigation, during the occupation of Kyiv Oblast, the man cooperated with the Russian Federation, handing over village council documentation regarding participants of the Anti-terrorist Operation and people who participated in the Joint Forces Operation and strategic infrastructure facilities of the Bucha district to Russian military personnel.

In addition, he agitated the local population to support and cooperate with Russia, distributing humanitarian aid from the Russian Federation to them.

In March, on Russian instructions, the man organised a meeting where he was appointed head of several villages. He occupied the chair of "official" until the Ukrainian troops liberated Kyiv Oblast.

The indictment has already been sent to the court. He faces up to 12 years with deprivation of the right to hold certain positions or engage in certain activities for a period of 10 to 15 years with confiscation of property.
