Occupiers considering renaming Mariupol – City Council

The Russian invaders have spread information about the possible renaming of the occupied city of Mariupol and about the holding of a so-called "referendum".

Details: According to the City Council, the Russians are considering the option of renaming Mariupol to Zhdanov [Andrei Zhdanov was born in Mariupol, was a Soviet politician; Mariupol was named Zhdanov from 1948 to 1989, as part of the practice of renaming cities after Communist leaders].
Quote from Andriushchenko: "In an interview with the occupiers, the head of the association of veterans of the Afghan war, Vasyl Turianytsa, said that along with holding a pseudo-referendum, the Russian authorities are considering renaming Mariupol to Zhdanov. ‘Logical’, what else can one say?"
