Zelenskyy: Attack on Odesa is a blow to Russia's political positions

President Volodymyr Zelenskyy believes that Russia has lost its political credibility and any lingering supporters of entering agreements with the aggressor country due to the missile attack on Odesa on the morning of 23 July.

Quote: "Today's Russian missile attack on Odesa, on our port, is a cynical one, and it was also a blow to Russia’s own political positions.
If anyone in the world could still say that some kind of dialogue or some kind of agreements are needed with Russia, look at what is happening. Today's Russian Kalibr missiles have destroyed the very possibility of making such statements.
We see the absolute unanimity of the world's reaction to this strike. The occupiers are no longer fooling anyone. Among other things, the building of the Odesa Art Museum was also damaged following this strike. The missiles hit very close to the historical sites of Odesa – something that is an asset not only for Ukrainian culture, but also for the culture of Europe.
This apparent Russian barbarism brings us even closer to obtaining the very weapons we need for our victory."
Background:
- Russian troops fired rockets on the port of Odesa on 23 July. Ukrainian Air Defence Forces shot down two missiles, while two other missiles hit the infrastructure facilities in the port.
- Pivden (South) Operational Command reported that a fire broke out in the pumping station following the missile attack on Odesa’s commercial seaport in the morning of 23 July. The grain storage facility was not hit.
- The blast wave damaged the building of the art museum.
