As a result of a rocket attack on the Odesa sea trade port, a fire broke out in the pumping station. There was no impact on the grain storage.

"Obviously, the enemy's goal was to hit the Odesa sea trade port. Four Kalibr missiles were aimed in this direction. Two of them were shot down by air defence forces, but two hit infrastructure facilities of the port itself.

There are currently no injured. ... There was no significant damage to the port infrastructure, but there was a hit to the pumping station," Humenyuk said.

She reported that a minor fire broke out when the rockets hit, which was soon extinguished by rescuers. The shock wave damaged the houses around the port.

According to Humenyuk, the grain storage itself was not hit.

Background:

Russian troops hit the Odesa seaport with missiles: 2 missiles shot down the air defence forces, and 2 more hit the port's infrastructure facilities.

The Russians struck the Odesa seaport exactly where the grain was stored, said Yuriy Ignat, the spokesman for the Air Force Command of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

The press service of the Ministry of Agrarian Policy also reported in a comment to Suspilne that there was grain in the port.

Russian troops attacked the port of Odesa the day after the signing of a grain agreement: on 22 July, the agreement on unblocking Ukrainian ports for the export of grain was signed in Istanbul.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine reacted to the strikes on Odesa.

As stated in the comment of the spokesman for the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine, Oleh Nikolenk, Ukraine has called on the UN and Turkey to ensure that Russia complies with its obligations within the framework of the safe functioning of the grain corridor.
