Attack on Vinnytsia: all bodies have been identified, families of the killed and injured will receive compensation

UKRAINSKA PRAVDA —  SATURDAY, 16 JULY, 20:48

All the bodies of those killed as a result of the Russian  rocket attack on Vinnytsia have been identified – burials will begin on Sunday. Relatives of the killed and injured will receive financial compensation.

Quote from Borzov: "As of this morning, all the people have been identified. And from tomorrow, the burials of the killed will begin."

He added that 68 victims are currently in hospitals, 14 of them are in serious condition, and 4 more are in critical condition.

Morhunov announced that the families of the killed and injured residents of Vinnytsia will be given financial aid, from UAH 25,000 [approximately 850 US dollars] to 50,000 [approximately 1,700 US dollars].

Background:

  • On the morning of 14 July, Russian forces hit the centre of Vinnytsia with rockets, resulting in fires. According to various sources, there were from 2 to 4 explosions. According to Serhii Borzov, Head of the Vinnytsia Oblast Military Administration, 4 more rockets were shot down by air defence forces over the oblast.
  • The Office of the President of Ukraine reported that the attack on Vinnytsia was carried out by the Russians with Calibre missiles, which were fired from a submarine in the Black Sea.
  • President Volodymyr Zelenskyy called this missile attack a terrorist act.
  • Russian representatives changed their version of the consequences of their rocket attack three times
  • On 16 July, workers of the State Emergency Service rescued 3 people from the rubble at the site of a rocket attack in Vinnytsia; the fate of one other is unknown, a total of 24 people have been killed.
