The Air Force of Ukraine confirmed that on 14 July, Russian occupiers fired 5 missiles at Vinnytsia, 2 of which were shot down by Ukrainian air defence.

Background: 

  • On the morning of 14 July, the Russians hit the centre of Vinnytsia with rockets, resulting in fires. 
  • According to the Ukrainian General Staff, three Russian missiles hit the city, and two more were destroyed by anti-aircraft missile forces in the area of the village of Rakhny, Vinnytsia region.
  • Air Force Command reported that the Russians attacked Vinnytsia with Calibre missiles launched from a submarine in the Black Sea.
  • President Volodymyr Zelenskyy called this missile attack a terrorist act.
  • Russian propagandist Margarita Simonyan, citing the Ministry of Defence of the Russian Federation, claims that the rocket attack on Vinnytsia, which killed more than 20 civilians, was allegedly carried out at a "nationalist accommodation centre".
 

As of the evening of 14 July, the number of victims of the Russian missile attack on Vinnytsia is 23 (three of them children); 64 people are in hospital and 5 are in critical condition.
