"Sunshine" Liza is an angel now: a Russian rocket in Vinnytsia took the life of a 4-year-old child
The photo of the first victim of the rocket attack on Vinnytsia on July 14 quickly spread on social media.
Rescue workers spotted the body of 4-year-old Liza against the background of her buggy. The little girl had died instantly.
Doctors are fighting to save her mother Iryna's life. Iryna Asmann, a colleague of the victim, reported on Facebook that Iryna is currently in intensive care in critical condition.
Iryna's daughter Liza had Down’s syndrome. An organisation that supports children with Down’s announced Liza’s death and the collection of aid for Iryna.
"We are horrified thinking about the unfair coincidence of circumstances, and the fact that some evil cannot be averted or prevented. They were just coming back from a developmental speech therapy class and just ended up in the wrong place at the wrong time," the Down’s Syndrome organisation wrote.
Iryna’s condition was reported by her friend Lidia Voytenko in a comment for the local publication "20 Minutes". She was taken to hospital. Lidia said Iryna's arms and legs are intact, but she is in an extremely serious condition.
"Ira seemed to be conscious when she got to the intensive care unit. Liza died on the spot.
Ira’s dream was to move to Kyiv. Before the war, she had managed to get back on her feet: she’d started renting her own place and found a good new job. That's when her life started to improve," she said.
A few minutes before the tragedy, Iryna had posted a video about herself and her daughter going to the speech therapist. Their route lay through Victory Square, where the Russians attacked.

Iryna had said on social media that her daughter has Down’s syndrome and called her an "angel".
