Mykolaiv attack: Oblast Military Administration says Russia seeks revenge for destroyed depots and command posts
IRYNA BALACHUK – TUESDAY, 12 JULY 2022, 11:52
Vitalii Kim, head of the Mykolaiv Oblast Military Administration, said that Russian forces carried out a rocket strike on Mykolaiv on the morning of 12 July in an attempt at revenge for the ammunition depots destroyed and commanders killed by the Ukrainian Armed Forces in the oblast.

Quote from Kim: "We were ‘dished up’ quite a bit this morning. So far, 19 rockets have been found – these are their Smerch, or Tornado-S, rockets. They left 24 craters throughout the city. It’s crystal clear: they [the Russians - ed.] are mad that our soldiers are hitting their targets, destroying not only their ammunition depots but also command posts, killing their generals."
Details: The head of the Oblast Military Administration said that the city of Mykolaiv was very heavily damaged: a school and a hospital were destroyed. There were fortunately no casualties or fatalities. Meanwhile, Kim said that the buildings can be restored and rebuilt.
Kim also added that Mykolaiv Oblast was ahead of all the other regions of Ukraine in terms of the numbers of Russian military leaders and generals killed by the Ukrainian Armed Forces.
Quote from Kim: "This is quite a place: as soon as the Russians arrive, as soon as they appoint someone new – that’s it! – they have to bid farewell to them and their deputies, as they depart for the Kobzon concert. [Iosif Kobzon was a Russian singer, known for his crooner style; later in his career he has become a symbol of an outdated Soviet aesthetic; he died in 2018 - ed.] The occupiers must be very sad these days – our troops are targeting them skilfully, killing more and more of them each day. And we’ve hardly even begun, as they say."
