Details: According to Lahuta, a big meeting of collaborators took place at the Kherson Oblast State Administration on 6 June. It was attended by the deputy head of the Russian President’s Administration.
He set the goal of "preparing a referendum by autumn on the incorporation of Kherson Oblast into Russia".
Lahuta stated that this is the occupiers’ latest decision, their previous decisions being "First a republic, then accession to Crimea, now accession to Russia".
Background:
- Collaborator Kirill Stremousov claimed in late April that no referenda in the oblast were planned.
- The Russian-appointed so-called "authorities" in Kherson Oblast said in early May that they would ask Russian President Vladimir Putin to incorporate Kherson Oblast into the Russian Federation.
