Russian-accredited US media representatives visited the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Monday, where they were given an ultimatum following a demand that Washington "change its attitude" toward Russian journalists in the United States.
The Russian agency RIA Novosti reported on the meeting, European Pravda reports.
According to the chief correspondent of the American television company Alhurra TV, he and his colleagues were warned about possible retaliatory measures if Washington "does not change its attitude" to Russian journalists working in the United States.
"We have been given three months so far. If the attitude towards the Russian media in Washington does not change, there will probably be some answer," Feras Almardini said.
The meeting was also attended by employees of the Moscow offices of the Wall Street Journal, CNN, AP, NPR and other media.
The Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs spokeswoman Maria Zakharova announced earlier that journalists would be given an explanation of the consequences of their government's "enemy line."
On 8 May, the United States imposed sanctions on three Kremlin TV channels: Pervyy kanal Rossiia [First Channel Russia], Rossiia-1 Channel [Russia-1], and NTV.
