Ukrainian defenders have managed to persuade 66 people, including six children, to evacuate from Lysychansk, Luhansk Oblast, without any announcement.
Source: Serhii Haidai, head of the Oblast State Administration, on Telegram
Direct quote from Haidai: "66 people have been evacuated from Lysychansk, including six children.
Quietly. No announcement. We drove through the bomb shelters and persuaded them to leave.
The military, police and State Emergency Service have achieved the impossible once again – 66 people are now safe."
Details: Haidai asks those who are still there to stay in their shelters, as the shelling has not subsided.
Background: Russian forces could still capture Sievierodonetsk and Lysychansk, but the Ukrainian defence remains strong in this key position, according to the US Institute for the Study of War.
