Quote: "In order to cover current losses in equipment, the Russians are withdrawing the necessary weapons and military equipment from storage.
The Directorate General of Intelligence of the Ministry of Defence of Ukraine has learned that, since April of this year, military equipment has been withdrawn from storage throughout Russia, including the most remote regions such as the Kaliningrad region and Sakhalin Island. The weapons and equipment are being repaired and prepared for transportation to operational areas for further use by the Russian military forces."
Background:
- The Russians have transferred a group of around 30 fifty-year old previously mothballed T-62 tanks to the Kherson region.
- On 26 May, there were reports that in the Zaporizhzhia region the occupiers had stationed the group of outdated T-62 tanks in Melitopol and 30 pieces of military equipment in the village of Kyrylivka.
- According to British intelligence, the fact that Russia is transfering such old tanks to the fronts may be a sign of the shortage of modern equipment, as T-62 tanks will likely be especially vulnerable against anti-tank weapons.
