The self-proclaimed president of Belarus, Alexander Lukashenko, has suggested that the "people's militia" he is creating should consist of groups of about 50 people for each village council.

Details: Lukashenko believes that those who join the "people's militia" should have basic knowledge of weapons. He emphasised that "a real man should be able to protect his family if necessary."

Lukashenko's quote: "And I thought that just in case we need to have this people's militia, a group of people for every village council. There will be few of them. Maybe 50 people. But they should also have their weapons somewhere in a warehouse. We are calling them for training - they will take their submachine guns (mostly submachine guns, grenade launchers, guns) so that they can protect their houses."

Previously: On 27 May, the so-called Minister of Defence of Belarus Viktor Khrenin announced at a meeting with the heads of zones of territorial defence forces that Lukashenko had set a task to create a "people's militia." At the same time, there are territorial defence forces in Belarus today, which are divided into 7 districts.

Background:

In late May, Lukashenko said that the KGB of Belarus had conducted "without a single shot" a "special operation in Ukraine to release Belarusian citizens" and handed out awards for its conduct.
