The occupiers are preparing Melitopol for a "referendum" by enforcing the replacement of passports and car licence plates

In order to prepare for a pseudo-referendum in Melitopol, the occupiers are forcing the city residents by blackmailing them to change their passports and licence plates on their private vehicles.

Quote: "The residents of Melitopol are refusing to take the passports. Therefore, the Russians are simply confronting them with a fact – a pension and budget payments in exchange for a passport. However, not even such actions are enabling the large-scale launch of passportisation."
Details: The invaders plan to turn the region into the Tavriia province as part of the Russian Federation. Therefore, [the Russian forces] have invented new car licence plates: they must display "TVR" instead of "UA", otherwise a penalty will be issued.
Previously:
- On 11 June, the occupiers handed over the first 30 Russian passports to locals in captured Melitopol, Zaporizhzhia Oblast.
- Passports were also handed out in Kherson. Only 23 people from the entire regional centre took them, including a collaborator and former mayor Volodymyr Saldo.
