Two civilians killed and at least 6 wounded in Russian attacks on Kharkiv Oblast

Two civilians have been killed in Tsyrkuny, Kharkiv Oblast, as a result of a Russian artillery attack, and at least six civilians sustained injuries as a result of Russian attacks across Kharkiv Oblast.

Details: Five civilians were hospitalised with wounds as a result of Russia’s shelling of Kharkiv’s Industrialnyi district. Russian shells hit a residential building and a business enterprise.

In Tsyrkuny, in addition to the two fatalities, one person sustained injuries.

Despite the Russian attacks, Syniehubov said that residents of the city of Kharkiv do not have to evacuate because Ukraine’s military-political leadership say there is no danger of the Russians attempting to storm the city. Syniehubov also said that around half of Kharkiv residents (who lived in Kharkiv before Russia’s full-scale invasion began on 24 February 2022) have already returned to the city.

Quote from Syniehubov: "As for the evacuation of civilians – there is currently no need to do that, primarily because we believe such an evacuation would only be necessary if the city of Kharkiv was being stormed. Currently, this is not an active threat. Our Armed Forces are holding their positions in the north, on the northwestern front. Obviously, they are under constant fire, under pressure from the enemy; they face constant attempts by the enemy to break through [their defence].

As for a mass organised evacuation of Kharkiv civilians – there is no need for one. Obviously, it’s dangerous to stay out on the streets, because the enemy carries out attacks using multiple-launch rocket systems from 45 km away. Let’s recall that the city of Kharkiv is situated only 40 km away from the Russian border. So the enemy could carry out attacks even from the territory of the Russian Federation."
