Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy had a telephone conversation with NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg before the Alliance summit in Madrid.
"Had a phone conversation with NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg. Coordinated positions on the eve of the NATO Summit in Madrid. Stressed the importance of a powerful missile defence system for Ukraine to prevent Russian terrorist attacks." Zelenskyy wrote on Twitter.
The day before, Jake Sullivan, United States National Security Advisor to President Joe Biden, confirmed that Washington is preparing to transfer air defence systems to Ukraine.
Previously in June, President Joe Biden agreed to provide Ukraine with $700 million in military assistance, including advanced missile systems able to accurately hit long-range targets.
Previously in late March, President Zelenskyy called on Norway to provide Ukraine with anti-ship weapons and NASAMS systems.
