Effects of Kyiv missile strike: 4 civilians remain hospitalised – Kyiv Mayor

As of the morning of Monday, 27 June, four civilians wounded in the Russian missile strike on the nine-storey apartment building in Kyiv’s Shevchenkivskyi district on 26 June remain in hospital, with rubble clearance still underway.

Quote: "Four people remain hospitalised, one unfortunately died, and the child who was rescued is in a satisfactory and stable condition. Doctors say her life is not in danger."

Details: Klychko clarified that 27 people were evacuated from the building. City authorities had offered them accommodation, but they all refused, opting instead to stay with relatives or friends.

It is currently impossible to assess whether the building can be repaired as the operation to clear away the rubble is still ongoing. A special commission will determine later whether restoration will be possible.

Background:

• Around 06:30 on 26 June Russian missiles hit a residential building and a kindergarten in Kyiv’s Shevchenkivskyi district. One missile was intercepted in the sky over Kyiv.
• Rescuers extracted a seven-year-old girl from under the rubble; later, they were also able to rescue her mother, who was trapped under a concrete slab. The girl’s father was killed in the attack. 
• In total, six people were injured or killed in the attack.
• Western leaders responded to the missile attacks on Kyiv by condemning them as "barbaric" and a "deliberate escalation" against the backdrop of the G7 summit in Germany.
