Since the beginning of the full-scale invasion in Ukraine, Russia has already seized at least 400,000 tonnes of grain from the temporarily occupied territories of Ukraine, taking the grain to Russia.
This was reported by the Krym.Realii [Crimea Reality - ed.] project run by Radio Svoboda [Radio Liberty - ed.], which quoted Taras Vysotskyi, First Deputy Minister of Agriculture of Ukraine.
According to Vysotskyi, at the time of the occupation of the territories, they already had nearly 1.5 million tonnes of grain in storage.
"If we add up all instances [of Russia seizing grain from the temporarily occupied territories of Ukraine - ed.], it will amount to nearly 400,000 tonnes. We will only be able to know for sure what’s happened to the remaining million tonnes after those territories are liberated," Vysotskyi noted.
Background: According to the Kyiv School of Economics’ Centre for Food and Land Use Research, the losses that Ukrainian agriculture has suffered since the beginning of full-scale Russian invasion already amount to 4.3 billion dollars.
