Russians shell border villages in the Sumy region with prohibited ammunition

The Russian occupiers have fired prohibited munitions at the settlements of the Yunakivka Amalgamated Territorial Community (hromada).

Quote from Zhyvytskyi: "During the shelling of the Yunakivka community, the Russians used phosphorous shells!"

Details: The Sumy Oblast Military Administration reports that Russian troops fired on the villages with phosphorus munitions from Grad multiple rocket launchers located in Russia.

Information on casualties and the level of destruction is currently being clarified.

Later, the Ukrainian border guards reported that the Russians fired at the Sumy region with 9M22S incendiary ammunition. Grad multiple rocket launchers were located in the village of Gordeyevka in Russia.

A total of 30 shots were fired, 25 shells of which exploded in the sky over the village of Yunakivka hromada [community], and another 5 exploded on the outskirts. As a result of the strike, the civilian infrastructure was damaged.

For reference: Military experts and investigators emphasise that Ukraine and Russia do not have phosphorous ammunition in service.

Instead, they may be incendiary munitions, which are also prohibited – they can’t be used in or near cities.

The use of incendiary ammunition on military facilities is allowed only if they are located remotely from civilians.

Such munitions are used to create large-scale fires in areas with dry vegetation using flammable combustible materials.
