Ukrainian Armed Forces hit another Russian Pantsir surface-to-air system on Zmiinyi (Snake) Island – Pivden [South] Operational Command

A military operation is underway on Zmiinyi (Snake) Island to defeat Russian forces and destroy their equipment.

Previously: Kyrylo Budanov, head of the Ukrainian Defence Ministry's Main Intelligence Directorate, said that the military operation of the Ukrainian Armed Forces on Zmiinyi Island is aimed at completely liberating the island from the Russian invaders.

Background:

• Budanov had previously said that the fight for Zmiinyi Island would continue to the bitter end, because control of the island makes it possible to protect the airspace over southern Ukraine.
• Satellite images captured the devastation on Zmiinyi Island after the Ukrainian Armed Forces struck the Russian occupiers’ positions.
• On the morning of 17 June, the Ukrainian Navy hit a Russian tugboat with a TOR surface-to-air missile system on board and which was carrying people and weapons to Zmiinyi Island.
• On 21 June, it became known that the Ukrainian military had launched a concentrated strike on the Russian military garrison on Zmiinyi Island.
• The Ukrainian Armed Forces hit a Pantsir S1 surface-to-air missile system, a radar station and Russian vehicles on Zmiinyi Island.
