Russia mounts offensive on Bakhmut front, fighting is underway – General Staff report

Russian forces are mounting an offensive on the Bakhmut front, near the city of Mykolaivka and the villages of Vershyna and Semyhiria. Fighting continues there.

Details: Russian forces have shelled civilian infrastructure near Pokrovske, Mykolaivka, and Bilohorivka.
On the Sivershshyna front, Russia continues to ramp up the security of its border with Ukraine. Russian troops shelled civilian infrastructure in the area around the village of Seredyna-Buda in Sumy Oblast, Ukraine.
On the Kharkiv front, Russia’s main efforts are focused on maintaining its current positions and preventing Ukrainian units from approaching the grouping of Russian troops on the Sloviansk front from the rear. Russian forces fired on civilian infrastructure in and around Dmytrivka, Chuhuiv, Korobochkine, Stara Hnylytsia, and Bazaliivka.
On the Sloviansk front, Ukrainian troops repelled a Russian assault near Bohorodychne and Dolyna.
Russian forces opened artillery fire on the area of Hrushuvakha, Virnopillia, Adamivka, and Mazanivka and conducted airstrikes on civilian infrastructure near Bohorodychne.
There were no active combat operations on the Kramatorsk front, but Russian troops fired on Ukrainian positions with artillery, MLRS, and mortars along the entire line of contact.
On the Sievierodonetsk front, Russian occupying forces continued to fire artillery of different calibres on Ukrainian units and conducted airstrikes near Ustynivka, Hirske, and Lysychansk. Russian assault operations to establish full control over Sievierodonetsk also continue. Ukrainian Armed Forces are successfully repelling Russian assaults in the Syrotyne and Bila Hora areas.
On the Avdiivka front, Russian aircraft conducted an airstrike in the area around the village of New-York; Russian forces shelled civilian infrastructure in and around Ocheretyne, Avdiivka, Kamianka, Netailovo, Mykilske, and Orikhove.
On the Kurakhove front, Russian aircraft conducted an airstrike on Shcherbaky. The Armed Forces of Ukraine repelled a Russian assault on Mariinka, forcing Russian troops to retreat.
Russia did not undertake active combat operations on the Novopavlivka and Zaporizhzhia fronts.
Russian armed forces are suffering significant losses on the Pivdennyi Buh front, but continue to fire on the areas around Murakhivka, Topolyne, Bila Krynytsia, and Mariine using artillery, mortars, and MLRS. Russian aircraft conducted missile strikes on civilian infrastructure near Ochakiv and Kutsurub. Russian forces are using UAVs to conduct aerial reconnaissance on the Pivdennyi Buh front.
Russian troops ramped up the construction of reinforcements on their frontline positions, including by equipping long-term firing positions.
In the waters of the Black and Azov Seas, five high-precision naval missile carriers are currently at the ready to launch missile strikes on the territory of Ukraine.
Due to the significant losses among Russia’s airborne troops, Russia has been forced to hire reserve officers on short-term (three months) contracts.
