In the temporarily occupied Melitopol, almost all the educators refused to cooperate with the Russians.
90% of the 2,700 employees of the local education department did not want to work for the Russian occupiers.
Ivan Fedorov, mayor of Melitopol, told about it on the 24/7 joint newscast on 20 June.
"And the 10% who agreed are janitors and so on. Therefore, almost no teacher agreed to work with collaborators.
This is an indisputable indicator of patriotism among teachers and the desire to teach our Ukrainian children according to our programs," Fedorov said.
The Russian occupiers began recruiting teachers from Russia to "teach" Ukrainian children in the occupation.
"The occupiers clearly understood that our teachers do not want to be collaborators and do not want to serve the Russian Federation, and have refused to cooperate.
That is why today, the Ruscists are starting to recruit teachers from some regions of Russia and offer them jobs in the temporarily occupied territories in Zaporizhzhia and Kherson oblasts," the mayor said.
Ivan Fedorov also added that Melitopol residents have high hopes for the Armed Forces of Ukraine and believe that children will go to Ukrainian schools on 1 September.
Background: Earlier, the mayor of Melitopol told how the educational process for children in the city occupied by Russians is organised.
